APPRECIATE CANDLEWOOD LAKE DURING LAKE AWARENESS WEEK!
 
We love our Candlewood Lake and now we have an official “sanction” to adore it even more during Connecticut’s “LAKES AWARENESS WEEK”. Governor Daniel Malloy proclaimed July 15th - 22nd as Lakes Awareness Week in the State of Connecticut. The Connecticut Federation of Lakes encourages us to remember to celebrate, respect and appreciate Candlewood Lake and all inland water resources in Connecticut particularly during this week and one would hope, always.
 
Candlewood Lake is the largest lake in the state, but there are over 3,280 other lakes, ponds, reservoirs and bodies of water. All are treasured as valuable resources for various recreational, aesthetic, commercial and environmental reasons. The “awareness” is to place emphasis on protecting these special resources to ensure their continued viability in the face of pollutants, aquatic invasive plants such as milfoil or exotic species such as zebra mussels that threaten our bodies of water (both have plagued Candlewood Lake on occasion) in addition to shoreline development and global problems such as acid rain.
