How Foreclosures Affect Children
 How Foreclosures Affect Children
Has anyone picked up today's article in DSNews about the impact of foreclosures on children? I must admit, until I read this I never gave this particular subject a lot of thought, despite the fact that foreclosure now apparently impacts some eight million children in the US.
The key points of the article include:

Children suffer more than anyone from a foreclosure.
There's a strong link between the rate of foreclosures and the rate of physical child abuse!
Researchers apparently found a 3% increase in physical abuse, 5% increase in traumatic brain injury with each 1% increase in 90-day mortgage delinquencies.
Foreclosure and financial stress leads to harsher/less supportive parenting.
Financial stress further leads to postponement of medical care--further exacerbating the situation.
With so many children affected and so many foreclosures it seems we might have a bit of an epidemic on our hands that will haunt a young generation for years to come.
