Are you going for the GOLD?
Haven’t the Olympics been spectacular so far? Just watching them fills us all with a sense of excitement and pride. Amongst the outstanding athletes competing is Dana Vollmer who won the gold medal in the 100M individual butterfly. What makes this so amazing is four years ago she didn’t even make the team and was so disappointed and distraught she thought seriously about quitting and never competing again.
But she didn’t quit. She didn’t take the easy way out and just give up. She saw this failure merely as feedback to improve. Instead of quitting she recommitted to her goal of competing and winning in the Olympics and spent the next four years doing whatever she needed to do to be ready this time around. Are you this committed to your goals or have you allowed some perceived failures to derail your plans? I have learned through difficult times that it's not what happens to you, it's what you do about what happens to you that is really important.
