What's it costing you?
MiMi Foster, a Colorado Springs REALTOR wrote an interesting blog regarding expenses - have you checked over spending habits, looked over your utility bills, checked into your other debts - can they be improved? We cut back to basic cable since we rarely watch television, saving us $50 a month. Then I went back into using coupons for groceries, while looking over grocery/food ads, paying more attention to what I am purchasing - and have been averaging about an extra $200 off our monthly food bill. I have to cut back, to afford the extra gas hike per gallon - never know what those gas prices are going to be.
One of the blessings of the current economy is that it helps us to be more aware of what we have, and hopefully a little more aware of what things cost.A friend of mine asked me not too long ago if I was paying attention to how much I spend on the "everyday" bills of which I am not even aware . . . phone, cable, insurance, utilities, etc. Thinking that I had gotten pretty wise with the overhead, I didn't imagine it would affect me, but decided to take a look. ... more
