Should I replace my carpet?
You are about to embark on the mission to sell your home. The cleaning, de-cluttering, and staging have begun. But there is one uncertainty looming in the back of your mind –the carpets. Before the signatures are on the appropriate dotted lines to list the home at the suggested market value let’s evaluate that little annoyance you have been trying to deny.
The carpets in your home are of varying ages and stages of wear. Some look great because those rooms are hardly used, while others are looking a little tired or even, dare we say “sad”. Here are some guidelines on what to do about remedial solutions for carpets and/or replacement suggestions.
Many times the carpets in the rooms that are in decent shape are that way because the room is not in the mainstream of everyday living. At the same time these carpets can be dated in color and/or texture. In fact it may even be the same carpeting from the owner prior to you. You know the type, avocado, burgundy, or deep navy blue—ugh.
