Test Your Green IQ, Part 1
A friend forwarded me an interesting article about Testing Your Green IQ. I will share some questions with you:
 
1. Running the dishwasher uses less water than hand-washing your dishes. TRUE! A German study found that people who washed by hand used an average of 27 gallons of water to clean 12 place settings. Compare that with a standard size Energy Star rated dishwasher, which consumes less than 5.8 gallons in a normal wash, and the results are clear. Even an older machine, which may use 10 to 14 gallons per load, would win in this same scenario. But, make sure you run only a full dishwasher load and skip prerinsing too!
