2012 Sarasota Chalk Festival, A Blazing Circus Of Colors!

2012 Sarasota Chalk Festival, A Blazing Circus Of Colors!  The 2012 Sarasota Chalk Festival has come to an end after another highly successful year.  I feel so grateful to be living in such a wonderful city as Sarasota and be able to attend such a creative and inspiring event.  The 2012 Sarasota Chalk Festival is just one of very many, many cultural events in this art loving city.
The Avenida de Colores Burns Square Chalk Festival was started by Denise Kowal in 2007 with 22 artists and about 5,000 attendees.  The Sarasota Chalk Festival has grown tremendously over the last few years.  The 2012 Sarasota Chalk Festival featured 500 artists and drew over 200,000 attendees.  The economic impact on Sarasota is estimated to be between $6 to $10 million dollars.
The 2012 Sarasota Chalk Festival began on October 28th and ran through November 6th.  Highlights included a major piece by world-renowned artist Kurt Wenner, appearances by world-famous aerialist Nik Wallenda, a myriad of musical styles and artists, dance presentations, circus animals and circus performers, childrens chalking area and so much more.
The entries this year were spectacular as usual,  The 3-D entries were a real highlight of the festival.  Enjoy ... more
