Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall Comes To The Sarasota Area.  The Vietnam Traveling Wall Memorial made its 18th and final appearance for 2012 in Pioneer Park in downtown Englewood recently from November 28, 2012 to December 3, 2012.
The 252-foot long wall is a 3/5 scale replica of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington, DC listing the more than 58,000 Americans who died in the conflict that ended 47 years ago.  The aluminun wall is owned by Vietnam and All Veterans of Brevard County.
The Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall was brought to Englewood through the perseverance and hard work of Cher Macey and a dedicated team of volunteers.  Once Macey signed the contract 18 months ago the work had just begun.  Macey and her team worked tirelessly making phone calls, sending emails, letters, making personal pleas and attending meetings to get the word out to raise the $20,000 it took to bring the wall to Englewood.
In addition to raising the funds to bring the Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall to Englewood, Macey and her team of volunteers had to arrange for 250 volunteers to help with staffing over five days to handle 24-hour security, man memorabilia booths and work the laptops ... more
