Lord Love A Duck - What Does That Mean Exactly?
Craig took this cute picture at Citrus Park Mall and when I looked at it, it reminded me of an expression my Mom used to use when we lived in England (usually when she was surprised or dismayed).  So I went agoogling and tried to find out what it means.

Seems like no-one really knows. It’s an old English expression that  has shown up in the works of T.S. Eliot and P.G. Wodehouse and according to the OED, James Joyce’s Ulysses but that doesn’t explain it.It seems to have come from Cockney verbiage. As everyone knows, rhyming was used as a way to hide expletives within their colorful language. Michael Quinion of World Wide Words found it in a book from 1907 by Louis Tracy. The Urban Dictionary defines it “as an expression used when nothing else will fit.” Vague, very vague in my opinion.Lord Love A Duck was also a black comedy from 1966 starring Roddy McDowell and Tuesday Weld (whatver happened to her): a satire of the ‘60’s culture. (If you watch the trailer, turn your sound down first) I never heard of it before so it must not have been a big hit.
