Photos Of Mount Hood, Mt. Jefferson And Timberline Lodge In Oregon
I've only been to Timberline Lodge on Mt. Hood twice. The first time was in 1999 before our move to Oregon when we were up checking out neighborhoods in the Portland Metro area while still living in Austin, TX. A work associate took us up where we enjoyed a wonderful lunch and some snow tubing. The second was when my Father in Law and his wife were up in the fall of 2005 and the mountain was surprisingly dry with little snow at the time.
This past week I enjoyed a wonderful visit from my Brother in Law, my neice and great niece. He is an avid Stephen King fan and wanted to see where they filmed "The Shining". The weather was perfect for the hour drive up there and it being Superbowl Sunday, we figured it wouldn't be as crowded. It can be warm and sunny in Portland, but when driving up to Mt. Hood, there can often be icy and snowy conditions where you are required to have chains on your tires.
