If you are a member of the National Association of Realtors you are a REALTOR®   As a real estate professional and member of NAR you should do everything possible to preserve the value of the Mark. It tells everyone around you that you are special and trustworthy.  
Why are you special and trustworthy? 
You are special and trustworthy because you abide by a strict code of ethics that protects the consumer and other real estate professionals. The  REALTOR® mark, what is it we are talking about, is it a job description or is it trademark?  
The definition is as follows:
Re·al·tor  a person who works in the real-estate business and is a member of the National Association of Real Estate Boards, or one of its constituent boards, and abides by its Code of ethics. 
Thus if you are using the word   REALTOR® to define a job or as a generic term to describe a real estate agent you are using it incorrectly.
