How Much Is That Doggie In The Windwow?
August 26 was National Dog Day. It was founded in 2004 as a way to recognize the number of dogs that need to be rescued each year, their long standing connections to humans, and the service they provide us.
 
When I was reading a blog about pets not being in homes during showings, it reminded me of a couple of showings I've had.
 
As I pulled into the driveway of a vacant house, I saw a dog sitting beside the front door. One of the neighbors said the people who had lived there hadn't taken the dog when they moved.
 
I showed another vacant home that was inhabited by cats. It was obvious someone was coming to the house to feed them, but why would anyone leave animals in a house they've vacated? It is unforgiveable to abandon an animal that is completely dependent on you for its well being.
 
So what would you do if you were faced with these situations? I called the SPCA about the dog and the listing agent about the cats. There are rescue groups across the country who will take in abandoned or abused animals and try to place them ... more
