Bradford Pear and River Birch trees are both growing in my yard and more to the point, my husband and I put them there! If I had known then what I know now...
Bradford Pear trees grow quickly and so more often than not you'll see them included in landscaping in neighborhoods in middle Tennessee. The also have beautiful blooms in the spring. The biggest problem with Bradford Pear trees is that they become top-heavy if not trimmed regularly. When storms pass through with high winds, branches tend to fall down, as much as 1/2 of the tree, as you can see in the picture. Hopefully, when the branch falls it won't fall on your home or vehicle, but you will have the cost of hiring someone to cut it up and haul it away or take the time to do it yourself. 
 

River Birch is also a fast growing tree and has an attractive bark. The problem with ours is that it loses leaves and small branches year round.
