New York, More Than A State Of Mind
No shrinking violet, New York is in your face, it's romantic, sublime, magical, a powerhouse with a pulse all its own.  It is unquestionably a place with many faces.  Writers have waxed poetic about it.  Lyricists, inspired by it, have kept us singing along with the likes of Billy Joel's "New York State of Mind," or George M. Cohan's "only 45 minutes from Broadway," or "New York, New York, it's a wonderful town . . .."  And if we listen carefully, we can still hear Frank Sinatra singing "start spreading the news, I'm leaving today. I want to be a part of it, New York. New York." 
Movies have been made about it, going back long before the 1933 "King Kong," when viewers watched the beleagered ape beating his chest atop the Empire State Building, Fay Wray flailing in his mighty hand.  We were told that "greed is good" in Oliver Stone's 1987 morality tale, "Wall Street."  There were so many others, "Goodfellas," "42nd Street," "The Out of Towners," "Breakfast At Tiffany's," and so many Woody Allen movies.
