Stapleton and Aurora connections: Block Party kicks off new community connections!!
Change is a word we’re all familiar with. It stirs different feelings based on the person—excitement for the unknown, perhaps a punch-in-gut feeling, the sudden urge to escape, positive repositioning, or longing for the way things used to be. But, best of all is the sweet adrenaline of something new and better. 
Folks, that’s what I’m feeling.
This past month roads opened along 26th Ave. on Fulton and Iola Streets, opening a new direct access and street connection between Stapleton in Denver and the Westerly Creek neighborhood of Aurora.
You might think, what is the big deal about a few new blocks?
Stapleton and Aurora, both great communities, are very different and have historically remained separate. The two sides have spent most their time looking at each other through a chain link fence on an unused plot of land along 26th. The roads quite literally break down mental and physical barriers.
Encouraging an open, accepting outlook toward diversity is a priority of mine. A graduate of East High School, I am familiar with diversity, and I could not be more thrilled to be connected to Aurora’s diverse people.
