Unconditional Surrender Sarasota Florida Landmarks and Places of Interest The iconic tourist attraction titled 'Unconditional Surrender' is located at Sarasota's Bayfront Park (sometimes called Island Park) near the intersection of Gulf Stream and Bayfront Drive (also known as US Route 41).  The 25-feet-tall statue is just one of the many attractions to be found by visitors to the park.  Modeled after a famous photograph, the statue has its admirers and detractors, and remains a controversial landmark and place of interest to this day.
Visitors can stroll from Seward Johnson's statue on the North end of the park to the Marie Selby Botanical Gardens just beyond the South end.  In between, visitors can kick back along the grassy shores of the Intracoastal waterway or relax on seating that lines the walkways.  If you are looking for somewhere to eat, O'Leary's Tiki Bar & Grill and Marina Jacks Restaurant are well known waterfront dining hot spots for lunch and dinner.  Docked at the marina is a range of boats from large to small, from luxury yachts to personal watercraft, and there is almost always something of interest to watch moving on the Intracoastal waterway.
