In 2008 I moved my mother from Florida to live with me after my step-father passed.  This October my mother had her 90th birthday.  Each and everyday I am so grateful to have this special time to share with my mother.  She is an amazing woman and is so intelligent, loving and kind.  I have learned so much from her over the years.
 
Yesterday was a very special day.  She was enjoying a good book, she reads several books a week, and I decided to get out her favorite cookie recipe and mix up some cookies.  It just felt like a good day to begin some early holiday baking.  My mother heard me in the kitchen and asked what I was doing.  I told her that I had just mixed up a batch of her favorite German Springerle cookie dough.
