Online petition expresses concern for Overland Park intersection
Citizens of Overland Park, parents of Blue Valley district students and residents of Mills Farm, Polo Fields, Blue Stem and other Quivera Road subdivisions are all taking chances each time they drive through the W 165th Street intersection.
Just south of the intersection there is a dip in Quivera Road which causes a sight line issue. For at least 5-7 seconds, drivers have a blind spot as they approach the intersection which currently only has one stop sign for cars entering Quivera Road from W165th Street.
There are four schools located off of Quivera Road, including Timber Creek Elementary School which is located just two blocks into the neighborhood of Mills Farm where W 165th St and Quivera Rd intersect. Parents who drive their school age children to and from school each day are carrying precious cargo and are at risk of danger as they turn in and out of the neighborhood.
The high school is just south of the intersection. Young and perhaps inexperienced drivers also pass through the intersection each day going to and from school.
Residents have reported that they have had many close calls at this intersection.
