It takes a village to develop a good REALTOR

When I was just starting out as a REALTOR, I was fortunate enough that the company I worked with sponsored several classes offered by our affiliates. But being book smart is different from being street smart, and that’s where experience can make a difference.
 
After getting that license, there is more to being a REALTOR than just passing the test. Every day and every situation was and still is a learning experience. We just continue to grow, and grow, and grow.
 
Observing people in the office, we knew the people who were truly knowledgeable and helpful to us newbies. We had a ton of questions. Even though we knew how to write contracts, there were other things we were still learning how to do, and situations we were learning how to address. There is not a single book that has all the answers. So we turned to the experienced and kind pros for help.
 
Yes, there may have been one or two curmudgeons who weren’t inclined to help since they considered us newbies as competition. But the helpful ones who willingly mentored us were in the majority.
