Wilton Market report 2013 Wrap Up! What happened in Wilton?

Wilton, CT 06897

Wilton is rich with history and has had settlers since the 1600's.  Like most Fairfield County towns, Wilton began as a farming community but with our rocky soil industry shifted, and many Mills were erected along the Norwalk river. With the help of the railroad we were able to import and export goods easily.
As the years went by and our country evolved Wilton's economy shifted again and as of the mid 20th century became more of a commuting town to New York City.  This lead to a huge boom in population, from approximately 4,500 to 13,500 by the 1970's.
Currently, Wilton remains an easy commute to New York City and many people choose this town for it's convenience to the city, but also it's rural charm.
