Painted Pianos Of Sarasota Keys Hit The Streets Of Sarasota!  Six brightly painted spinet pianos played by six professional pianists made their city debut on Friday, January 18, 2014 at Sarasota's downtown Five Points Park at 5pm.  Also in attendance were the seven "Legacy Artists" who converted the pianos into colorful works of art.
The pianos will be available for anyone to play outside of six local businesses through the end of May.  The Sarasota Keys Project was initially proposed by former City Commissioner Ken Shelin several years ago, but did not take off until concert pianist Rich Ridenour moved to Sarasota last fall.  Jim Shirley, with the Arts and Cultural Alliance of Sarasota, agreed to help bring the project to fruition.
Shortly after the concert, the pianos were loaded up for delivery to the six local businesses who have agreed to keep them on display during regular business hours for anyone to sit down and play.  The six businesses are:  Louie's Modern, Sarasota Opera House, Mattison's City Grille, Bohemian Bliss Boutique, Main Street Traders and DiFilippo Kent Gallery.
