According to the new 2013 National Association of Realtors (NAR) report, an annual survey of home buyers and sellers found that new home purchasers bought a new home to avoid renovations or problems with plumbing or electrical, and the ability to customize their home. However, the report also indicated that Home buyers who bought previously owned homes purchased their home for a better price and overall value, and the charm and character their home provides.
Other interesting factors found in the report are:
(1) Buyer said the quality of the neighborhood, convenience to job and overall affordability are the top three priorities (in that order) when it comes to choosing a neighborhood. (2) 84% of buyers want 3 bedrooms or more and 61% said they want two full bathrooms. (3) The median year built home by buyers in the Southern states was built in 1993.
