Spring is Starting to Smell
 
The City of Darien’s motto is “It’s a nice place to live” however it’s becoming a not so nice place to smell.  My neighbors dog Lilly wanted to play with Pepe Le Pew and got to know Pepe got his name. My dog Charlie met Pepe twice last year.
 
When Charlie first met Pepe we  inspected him while wearing rubber gloves and checked for signs of being bitten by the skunk. While my wife Lisa was making sure we didn’t need to make a trip to the veterinarian I was mixing a quart of  hydrogen peroxide, 1/4 cup baking soda and 2 teaspoons of dishwashing detergent.  
 
The biggest thing to remember here is that a skunks spray is an oil base and you need to use the magic potion I mentioned first and then use water to rinse.
 
I called the City of Darien this morning to see what could be done about the skunks prior to getting tangled up with our dogs and I was given the following list of trappers.
