How long should a showing take?

Absolutelly agree. 5 hours is longer than what a home inspection will take. A showing should not take more than one hour and at the most 1.5 hours...... www.HOMEINSPECTORUSA.biz
 
I just read a featured blog about courtesy during showings.   
While I agree with everything the author talks about, one thing really stood out to me an made me think... 
She mentioned that a lot of agents, when scheduling showings, ask for a 5 hour window to see the home.  
Really?  
That agent expects the sellers of that home to be gone for 5 hours?  
They're supposed to pack up the kids and the dogs and drive around the neighborhood for 5 hours?  
No way!  That's just not happening. 
That's completely unrealistic and discourteous to the sellers.  
If I have a buyer that wants to see 4-5 homes in an afternoon, I log on to the MLS, look up the homes, look at the map, and then schedule accordingly. 
I normally ask for an hour time frame to see each home, and calculate travel time in between each showing as well.  
I ask for a showing to start at 4:00 pm, and end at 5:00.  That way, if ... more
