Southern California's Snowbird Season
In the Coachella Valley in Southern California, we are in the midst of "snowbird season", that time of the year when folks in snowbound areas break free and migrate to warmer weather for up to 6 months. Many of our snowbirds are our neighbors to the north, the Canadians. We have an average of 350 days of sunshine annually, so golf, tennis, swimming and hiking are always popular. There are natural hot and cold springs in Desert Hot Springs, the only place in the world where both occur. The Street Fair at College of the Desert is a popular shopping venue, with vendors from all over Southern California offering unusual products. The City of Palm Springs hosts Villagefest on Thursday nights , with more than 200 booths offering art, handcrafted items and unique food, and it's dog friendly. Throughout the valley, there are museums, shopping and dining galore! There is always something fun happening every weekend during this time of the year. A few weeks ago, the annual Canada Fest was held. in the Coachella Valley to celebrate Canadians and locals alike. Many Canadian foods are offered that are not otherwise available here .
