Austin - The New Foodie Destination?
Austin has been anything but low-profile in the past few years, garnering attention for our music festivals and our tech scene, among other claims to fame. Lately, however, Austin is getting a reputation as a "foodie" destination. Austin eateries have been featured on such shows as "Man Vs. Food", "No Reservations" and "Feed The Beast". Also, we can't forget that Paul Qui, of Top Chef Austin, resides, well, in Austin. He creates cullinary masterpieces at his downtown restaurant, Qui. You can also find international cuisine at Austin favorites such as The Clay Pit, which features traditional Indian food cooked in tandoori ovens, as well as home-grown fare like the famous Franklin's, where, day or night, you will inevitably stand in a long line to sample mouth-watering traditional Texas barbeque.
So come to Austin for the music and the industry, but bring your appetite.
Here is a great article detailing local food trucks which have fare that rivals gourmet restaurants. Here are a few resources from the Travel Channel on things to do in Austin.
