Free fishing? Believe it or not, fishing isn't free in Indiana. You have to have a license for it. These fishing license in Indiana can range from $9 for a single day pass, or you can purchase an annual pass for $17. At least, that's the typical cost for a fishing license. You then have to add $11 if you want to fish for trout or salmon. Non-residential fees are an additional cost. But, did you know that Indiana Department of Natural Resources offers 4 days throughout the year that you can fish without a license (for FREE)?

The four free days you can fish in Indiana for free are April 19th, May 17th, and June 7th and 8th. These days allow you to fish in whatever public waters you wish without having to have a fishing license or a trout/salmon stamp. This usually doesn't happen unless you are a youth under the age of 17 or were born before April 1, 1943.
