Traveling teaches many things. Among those are patience, understanding and if you are fortunate: gratitude and empathy. In so many parts of the world hardship is the norm and disease is rampant. It is hard to believe that folks work twelve hour days just to get by and have to take three taxis just to get to their jobs. And the reality is that these are the lucky ones because they have work. On a bad day, remember this. On a good day do what you can to help those who would trade places with you on the worst day you ever had. Life is complicated and hard, and if you live here, you should remember how lucky the accident of your birthplace was.
