Why Advertise if you won't do the work
I live in a community with over 1,000 homes. We have a newsletter that has advertising spots. There are 2 ads that say something along the line of home improvement / handyman lists all sorts of work they will perform, then states no job too small.
So I call the first one, get vm,  they call back and when I explain what I want done, I'm sorry I don't do that, but do you need any remodeling or updating done. ( my interpretation: that is too small to bother with but if you want to spend 5K or more I can help you.) I tell him no I am good for now.
I call the second person and it is dejavu.
I didn't mention to either of them that I am in real estate. What is it that they don't get about doing little jobs, if you do them right, they will lead to referrals for the big jobs. If you have that much work that you don't need the little jobs, then don't put no job too small in your ad. I would never call either of these people. Guess what, next year my wife and I planning to do ... more
