Paddleboarding in Washougal - Fun for Whole Family
 
Stand Up Paddleboarding or SUP, has really caught on in the Pacific Northwest.  An off-shoot of surfing, the activity has been around for many years in the South Pacific. Instead of waiting for a wave, the boards are propelled with a paddle, either standing up or kneeling.  Because it is relatively easy to learn how to maneuver, they are particularly popular with families – everyone can participate.
Last summer, we had a great time at a family picnic on a mountain lake in the Cascades.  We all took turns on the boards my son brought - some of us trying it for the first time. We loved how easy it was for everyone to enjoy - spending the day paddling out and around the lake. It does require some balance, and a knack for upper body activity, but it is easy for anyone to learn.
Taking SUP to the next Level
