Buy a Ring...Get a Gun
A jewelry store here in Lubbock is offering "buy a ring...get a gun."  Only in Lubbock, right?  You still have to pass a background check of course.  The ring has to cost more than$2900.00, and this promotion is leading into hunting season.  The store owner says it is really an offer...but just kind of for fun too.
So, makes me wonder about Buy a House...Get a Gun.   Now I know the cost of a gun would exceed what I can spend on a closing gift.  Well, that is debatable.  Some say the $50.00 limit pertains only to referral fees while others believe it extends to closing gifts. 
However, if I engrave the stock with my name and phone number, then it is considered marketing and I can spend whatever amount I choose.  This is what a premium kitchen knife company says when promoting their knives for closing gifts.  When I told my husband about this he suggested it might be unseemly to give a a gift that is later found at a crime scene.  So I am still pondering this marketing strategy.  If a gun or knife collected at a crime scene is engraved with my name and contact information what are the odds that I will ... more
