Daylight Savings Time Fall 2014
Daylight Savings Time Fall 2014
This weekend we'll say goodbye to Daylight Savings Time. The change technically takes place at 2am on Sunday November 2, 2014 but, I imagine many of us will change our clocks before we go to bed Saturday night.
Why Daylight Savings?
We technically do this because Congress told us too in 2005. They made the law a part of the Energy Policy Act. The law went into effect in 2007 stating DST would start on the second Sunday in March and end the first Sunday in November but, the goal behind the law is to save energy. States have the option to opt out but, Arizona is the only state that did.

Does It Really Save Energy?
A recent study done in Indiana shows it has the opposite effect. It shows that while it does conserve on energy from lights it uses more energy for air conditioning. Arizona might be on to something by not participating in DST considering they are one of the hottest states. The debate will continue on whether or not it saves energy and is necessary. Feel free to share your thoughts on whether or not you think it's necessary.
