A new state constitution freed enslaved people living in Maryland November 1, 1864.  Join Heritage Montgomery and its partners to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Maryland Emancipation Day.  Bring your family to enjoy special commemorative programs, food, games & crafts, and music at sites around Montgomery County!  Rain or Shine!  FREE!
Plan to visit Button Farm, a living history center showing daily plantation life of the enslaved in the 1800s for:
·      Emancipation stories
·      Storytelling
·      Old Fashioned Games & Crafts
·      Butter churning
·      Music
·      Sack races, corn hole, and more!
An African American genealogist will be on hand to offer tips and recommend resources for families researching their past.
