A Little Pine Cone Experiment; Do you know why a pine cone is all tight and closed sometimes and open at other times?  Before you decorate the tree, gather a few pine cones.  If they have been in the house they will be open.  Place the pine cones in a bowl of ice water.  Now, go decorate the tree!  When you are done, check on your pine cones.  They should be all closed up tight.
 
The pine cone closes to protect the seeds during the cold winter months.
 
 
Our Christmas tree as a whole is not spectacular, stunning, or a showcase for all to observe.  Our tree is quite simple.  A tree put up to celebrate a most wondrous life to me should be just that, a celebration of life!
