The "Time Was" Museum, Elkhart, IN - (A Permanent Local Attraction)
The "Time Was" Museum,
Elkhart, IN - (A Permanent Attraction)

Located in downtown Elkhart, Indiana, the "Time Was" Museum, was founded by Historian Paul Thomas, who has collected information dating back to 1856.  The museum houses photos, memorabilia and newspapers, located on 2 floors of the building.

Mr. Thomas is a delight as he tells the history of Elkhart, using many props from actual inventions that originated locally. School children are fascinated by the different hats he uses to tell the stories of the founding of Elkhart. People of all ages visit the museum as well as large groups, such as the Elkhart County Board of REALTORS®, who have visited several times over the past few years. I would recommend making  trip to North Main Street in downtown Elkhart. I have been there several times and am looking forward to my next visit.
You can visit by chance, as he has no set hours.  The best way is to call for an appointment.
