About Receiving Agent Awards, Especially From Trulia
As a person over the age of 60, I obviously did not grow up in an environment where kids received awards for sneezing and wiping their nose. I wasn't part of that let's-make-everybody-feel-good movement or that every-person-is-special sentiment developed by helicopter parents. Nope, I grew up earning A's on my report card because I did the work and comprehended the assignments. I even ranked OK on playing well with others. I mean to say I have earned my way in life. Nobody handed anything to me.
Couple that attitude with my adverse reaction to manipulative marketing, and I tend not to place much distinction on the awarding of awards. I wouldn't change companies over it like some agents who feel slighted when they are not recognized for a position they felt they deserved. But for crying out loud, when you're gonna send somebody an award, you should probably personalize it.
