Obstacle Course Practice Huge Success for Horses
Last Friday night I had a great time at the Yamhill County Posse's Fun Night.  Not really knowing what to expect, we just kind of jumped in and went for it.
I went with my good friend Tricia, and her friend Tammy.  None of us, including our horses, had ever done anything like this, but thought it sounded like a new adventure.  We figured we were either going to have fun, or fall off.
 

In a nutshell, you pay your $10, and you can "play" as long as you want during the 3 hour time slot. There could be a handful, or in this case, about 30 horses in the arena at one time.  It was a great learning experience for the horses with so much going on.  Obstacles included low jumps, poles, large tractor tires with platforms built on them so the horse could stand on them, barrels, umbrellas, plastic bags blowing in a fan, a bridge, a teeter totter, a gate, a thin mattress to walk on, a fat mattress to walk on and more.  The first hour or so my horse, Violet was pretty nervous, but after she realized she wasn't going to die, she relaxed ... more
