Begin with one room and pack away everything that you have not used in the last month.

Have strong containers that are well labeled with room and contents.
Store only similar content in the same container.
Move the containers OUT of the living area for storage in basement and / or garage - NOT in closets!
 
You will create more space in your home, remove a lot of clutter, see more things to clean or touch up, and have your home ship-shape for Buyer viewings!
