Spotlight on NoHo!

Spotlight on NoHo!

NoHo (north of Houston) lies between Greenwich Village and the East Village, birthed from an artistic sentiment that lingers amongst the fabulous architecture and bustling neighborhood. Quiet streets of cobblestone and tree-lined sidewalks live comfortably with great shopping, some of the best dining in the city and cultural institutions, drawing creative and finance folks and their families to the neighborhood.

Much of NoHo is designated a historic district. According to the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission, the district is comprised of approximately 125 buildings, many of them old factories with cast-iron facades and early 19th century homes. Some individual landmarks in the NoHo Historic District include: the Astor Library, the Bayard-Condict Building, the Bouwerie Lane Theater, and the DeVinne Press Building. Two New York City Subway stations, Astor Place and Bleecker Street, are also landmarked. New York University, and The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art are located here as well.
