Herbal Vinegar Workshop at the Frelinghuysen Arboretum - 9/30
 
On Wednesday, September 30th, from 6:30 to 8:00 pm, the Frelinghuysen Arboretum will hold its 7th Annual Herbal Vinegar Workshop. Attendees will make their own herbal vinegars for a salad accompaniment or for grilling or as a dessert finisher. Lesley Parness is the superintendent of Horticultural Education and will be hostin the workshop.
The cost for attending this presentation is $36 for members of the Arboretum and $40 for non-members. Registration is required by September 23rd. The cost of registration includes three bottles of vinegar and all materials including the herbs, bottles, labels, and raffia ties.
The Frelinghuysen Arboretum is a beautiful public arboretum donated by the Frelinghuysen family in 1971. George Frelinghuysen was a patent attorney and son of Frederick Frelinghuysen who was the Secretary of State under President Arthur. In 1881, George married Sara Ballantine, granddaughter of the founder of the P. Ballantine Brewing Company. The Frelinghuysen Arboretum is built on the property that was the couple's farm and summer home. When George and Sara died, their daughter Matilda inherited the property and bequeathed it to the Morris County Park Commission when she died with the intent that they would use the property as an arboretum.
