Places to Eat in North Phoenix: Joey's California Bistro
I like food.  One look at my waistline will tell you that.  I'm Italian so you can guess what kind of food I like.  A couple of months ago I started a small monthly meet-up with business owners and sales people that are also alumni of my high school that happen to still be in the area.  We had been meeting mostly in the old neighborhood, call it nostalgia networking.  After the first few it was pretty clear that even though many of the participants like visiting the old hood it's a trek for them, most of which were coming from the northwest valley.  So I asked the group to think of a good middle ground place to do our September meet-up and Joey's California Bistro on 7th Street and Bell was suggested.  I went there for lunch and had a great shrimp marinara linguine.  Keep in mind that I grew up with an East Coast Italian mother and grandma so I'm very picky about sauce.  It was delicious.  The owner, who is not named Joey but everyone calls him that, was there serving.  He's incredibly friendly and accommodating and his name is Natale.  They're open 7 days a week and you can see their ... more
