We will miss this camp
Though it is far from anywhere and a long drive from camp to civilization, it was a great camp.
Friday morning we packed up our camp at sunrise, a camp that we stayed at far longer than most as we perform our inventory of the Tug Hill Plateau.
We stuck it out at this camp for the duration of all of our remotest plots for one main reason, it was the only place on this plateau that we could get phone and data coverage on our cell phones.
So nice to be able to send your data off to the client, or communicate with staff and family back home without having to leave camp to do so.
But now that all of the interior plots are done and the half of the project that is within a few miles of a real road are all that is left, we will be moving on to two camps along the main roads.
Though these new camps do not have good cell coverage, they are at least on roads that are plowed.
So now we no longer have to get panicky every time a few flakes of snow start to fall, for fear of getting stranded ... more
