Meet Mr. Bones

 
This is Mr. Bones. For 11 months every year, he sits in my study, always available to ghost-write a blog or two for me if I get too busy, and always a great source of advice and encouragement. Right now, Mary has stripped him of his finery, separated him from Alphonse, his pet rat and familiar sitting on his shoulder, and banished him stark naked to the front porch with instructions to scare the crap out of any little kids he encounters. I'm sure he can't wait for this annual humiliation to be over, so he can get back inside where it's warm.

On the plus side, for the next several days, he gets to star in my profile picture. And just in case you were wondering, that is indeed a Liverpool fan scarf he's proudly wearing. You'll have to translate the family motto from the Latin on your own.
