Here in Connecticut and the East Coast there is a movement towards energy efficient homes that range from the Energy Star Home all the way up to Net Zero Homes.
There are many programs to help you reach a goal where a home can use much less energy than current homes. One of the main program is called the Passive House program. There are also many builders who specialize in green homes and pre-fab homes such as Unity Homes.
