Davis-Monthan Air Force Base Training March 1-6 to include F-35's
At the MCRC (1/20/16) meeting Capt. Casey Osborne, Public Affairs at D-M, said that for the Heritage Flight Training March 1-6 this year, that there will be 2 F-35’s involved in the training.
Heritage Flight training is to certify the planes/pilots for flying in air shows across the country. Current planes are paired with vintage planes for these air shows. Here is the rundown on the planes that Capt. Osborne said would be training for the certification here at D-M: 2 F-16’s 2 F-22’s 2 F-35’s older planes training will be: 1 P-40 4 or 5 P-51’s 2 or 3 F-86’s 1 P-47 1 P-38 The training is under the auspices of Air Combat Command (ACC) with the FAA. Flying training will most likely occur on March 4-6, starting in the afternoon of March 4. Two training times per day for March 5 and 6, a morning and an afternoon, described as 2 hours each. Capt.
