French Acadian, Country French, Acadiana styles
These styles are the ones that are way and above the most popular styles for new construction in our part of the country. They have been for quite some time and their popularity shows no sign of declining. There have been a couple of attempts by developers locally to try other styles with siding, as opposed to brick and other design types, none of which has been successful. Theses homes sport high pitched roofs and gables, older looking brick, inside and out (sometimes painted), antique cypress exterior posts, antique pine interior beams and mantles. A rustic look that is quite in demand.
  There have been a few changes in recent years. New home buyers now seem to want white trim and cabinets, along with brushed nickel and chrome fixtures and complimentary gray walls. It hasn't been that long ago that chrome fixtures were considered "cheap". Now they are being installed in multi-million dollar homes.
   I had a home listed that was built in 2008. It had beautiful antique cypress kitchen cabinets, which cost a fortune to put in. The potential buyer's comments were, "These cabinets are too dark. Can they be painted white?" The thought of putting paint over that beautiful antique ... more
