Hot Air or Puffery??
There is a concept in advertising that pushes the bounds of exaggeration and deception called PUFFERY. In looking at things presented to you, products or services, a real estate property, a real estate agent, a hamburger, a hair cut place, WHAT are they telling you? Promotion or a lie?
Puffery is legal, deception is a lie, false advertising AND ILLEGAL. Susie is the BEST agent in town? Borderline deception but NOT. Puffery is opinion and subjective. The properties represented all sell in 30 days or less. WELL that better be factual, cause it can be CHECKED.
Evidence and Proof go with FACTS not puffery. People LIKE to exaggerate to sell you something. Everyone an agent deals with leaves with a smile, look at my feedback testimonials. WELL maybe they tossed out the bad ones, marginal.
JUST if you think something is a FACT think objective and look for evidence. If it is CLEARLY opinion, let it slide and just think you are being given a sales pitch. Hot air, an outright lie, run away. Puffery, just think a bloated balloon. There is a difference. Your agent is a windbag LOL.
