Great Buildings of Chicago: The Rookery #3
The Chicago Rookery is the oldest highrise building (12 Stories Tall)  in Chicago and is considered a masterpiece of architects Burham and Root and is on theChicago Landmark Registry.
After the Chicago Fire (1871) this site was used as a  temporary City Hall, frequented by politicians, horse stables, and pigeons who were such a nusuance that people complained about them hense the name "The Rookery" became associated with the Building.
The Building has exterior load bearing walls and interar steel supports and is on a "floating foundation".
The interior is a mix of  Moorish,Byzantine, Venetian motifs. The Lobby has an interior glass courtyard which was redesigned by Frank Llyod Wright.
