What is the maximum VA IRRRL loan limit?
Each year the Veterans Administration (the VA) releases the VA Loan Limits.   These are based on the county the home is located in.   In past years,  the VA allowed much higher Loan Limits than today.   There are now many VA Home Owners who hold VA Loans that are higher than their current County VA Loan Limit.   I have heard this question many times - Can I use the VA IRRRL Streamline even though I owe more than the current VA Loan Limit?   
Example - if a buyer used their VA Home Loan Benefit in 2017 in San Mateo county to purchase a $960k home with zero down (the VA Loan Limit was $1m even in 2012.  Now they have paid it down to $895K, however the San Mateo VA Loan Limit is $636,150 in 2017.   We allow the Veteran to refinance using a VA IRRRL Streamline in this scenario as the loan already has a VA Guaranty sufficient to cover the loan.   Our Loan Limit for VA Jumbo IRRRL Streamlines is $2,000,000.  Since the VA loan already has the sufficient loan guaranty in place,  we would be able to ... more
