Hate baiting.
Hate baiting.

After a recent volley of comments on the subject of athletes taking a knee or sitting during the National Anthem on Facebook, I discovered a lot of people are unable to maintain a civil on-line conversation.

They have plenty to say though while rejecting adverse opinions.

Some prefer to lead with hate, taunting others to take their stance no matter the direction it takes. Hate-baiters often demean and attack the other person's character in order to satisfy their desired intentions.

Social media, for me, plays a dual role. Family members who are far away are brought closer together with posts and sharing photos. My business pages announce local events, market reports, boosts posts and recent sales.

I stay out of political postings altogether. Articles that are used for the sole purpose of inciting hate and emotional responses simply to drive traffic to media sites to increase ratings are passed on as well. And there are plenty of those!

It comes down to choices in how to start and end the day. A positive beginning leads my days and though things may happen to deter the attitude, I'd rather be happy than be right. I am in charge of that, thankfully.

Happy sales all!
